Code of Community Conduct

Policies & Guidelines

 

Welcome to Crestview Christian Homeschool Academy Cooperative (CCA) 

Psalm 121 says, “I lift my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to slip; your Protector will not slumber. Indeed, the Protector of Israel does not slumber or sleep. The LORD protects you; the LORD is a shelter right by your side. The sun will not strike you by day or the moon by night. The LORD will protect you from all harm; He will protect your life. The LORD will protect your coming and going both now and forever.” (HCSB)

We are happy you have decided to join us; together we focus upward on the Lord and walk by faith on our homeschooling journeys. It is our prayer that we will have servants' hearts and will view the co-op as an opportunity to minister to one another and to grow in the community. Please carefully read the handbook as all co-op participants will be expected to agree to adhere to the statements set forth.

Statement of Faith
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God which constitutes the completed and final revelation; and is to be the sole and final authority for faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21; Psalm 119:89; Psalm 12, 6,7)

We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 3:16-17; John 1:1-13; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Revelation 1:8)

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood on the cross, His bodily resurrection, His ascension into Heaven to the right hand of the Father, and his imminent personal return in power and glory. (John 1:1-2, 14; Luke 1:31-35; Philippians 2:6-8; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8, 15:21; 1 Peter 2:24; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 9:12; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

We believe all people are created in the image of God and that all fell into sin through the disobedience of Adam, violating God’s righteous requirements and His holy character both by nature and act. All are therefore lost, unable to justify themselves before God. (Genesis 1:26-27 and 2:16-17 and 3:6; Romans 3:10 & 23 and 5:12 & 18)

We believe the central purpose of the coming of Jesus Christ was to pay the penalty for man’s sin through His substitutionary death on the cross, the successful accomplishment of which was attested to by His subsequent bodily resurrection. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Acts 1:3)

We believe salvation is offered as a gift, free to the sinner. This gift must be responded to in individual faith, not trusting in any personal works whatsoever, but in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ alone. (Acts 13:38-39; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9)

We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to convict and regenerate mankind, and to indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service. (John 16: 7-14; Titus 3:5; 1 Corinthians 6:19 and 12:13; Romans 8:14; Ephesians 5:18)

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. (John 5:28-29; 1 Thessalonians 4:16; Revelation 20:12-15)

We believe that marriage is an institution ordained by God to be a covenantal life-long relationship and prescribed by Scripture to be a monogamous relationship between a man and a woman as they were originally physically created in these respective genders by God. (Gen. 2:18-24, Prov. 12:4; 18:22, 31:10; Ecclesiastes 9:9, Malachi 2:13-16; Matthew 19:4-6; Mark 10:1-9; 1 Corinthians 7:1-16; Ephesians 5:21-23; Colossians 3:14-19; Hebrews 13:4; 1 Peter 3:1-7)

We believe that human sexuality is part of God’s divine design for human beings (Gen. 1:28). However, the Bible restricts all forms of consensual sexual activity to within the boundaries of the marriage relationship (I Cor. 7:1-5; Heb. 13:4). As such, any form of sexual immorality (including, but not limited to, adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, transgender or gender non-conforming relationship; bestiality; incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God.(Matt. 15: 18-20; 1 Cor. 6: 9-10)

We believe God created man and woman in His image as two distinct but equal genders which He intends to use for His glory (Gen. 1:26-27). Furthermore, individual gender is assigned by God and determined at conception (Ps. 139:13-16). Therefore, we believe that to intentionally alter or change one’s physical gender or to live as a gender other than the one assigned at conception is to reject God’s right as Creator to assign gender to His creatures and is a personal rejection of His plan to glorify Himself through the original gender He assigned that individual (I Cor. 10:31).

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image.  Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception, through natural death.  We therefore defend, protect and value all human life. (Ps. 139)

This Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. We reserve the right to make institutional decisions consistent with these positions for volunteers, employment, hiring, retention, student admissions, discipline, and all other matters.

Membership Qualifications:

Members must complete a membership application and be approved prior to being a member.

  • Members must agree to our Code of Community Conduct Policies and Guidelines as listed on this page, 

  • Members must agree to our Statement of Faith. 

  • Members must be registered members of a South Carolina homeschool association accountability group.

  • Must be an active member in a church that aligns with our statement of faith

  • Members must attend the required parent orientation

  • Members must not have a criminal record

  • Teaching members must agree to a background check and have no criminal record.  

  • Members must sign the Waiver and Release of Liability

  • Members must be a Members In Good Standing

Statement of Financial Obligations
CCA membership is a financial commitment. The Student Commitment Fee is due upon invoice receipt and is to be paid in full when you join CCA, prior to class registration. Classes may only be selected when members are ready to pay in full. Payment is due in full at the time of class selections. Enrollment, class, material, and lab fees are non-refundable. Our budget is based on enrollment and registration; therefore, classes cannot be dropped or refunded after registration. 

Family members when moving from one class to another will be responsible for paying the materials fee + lab fee for any class changes made after April 30th. After the first week of classes, members will be responsible for paying 50% of the new class registration, plus full materials/lab fees for both the old and new classes. Registration for classes is non-refundable. (This is not a penalty, but rather a way for us to be financially responsible for financial commitments which have been made. Thank you for understanding.) 

Statement of Parent and Student Participation

  • We will be counting on your cheerful participation! Barring a family emergency or illness, both parents and children are responsible for their dependable co-op attendance. Understand that we are a cooperative and parents are required to serve a minimum of 8 serve points throughout the year, as well as 1 of our end-of-semester Crestview Community Nights. We have done our best to help serve your family with flexible sign-up times that allow you the freedom to choose times that work best for you through a point system which equates to 4 full days. Volunteer work includes but is not limited to assisting teachers with set up / clean up, hall monitoring, lunch/end-of-day cleaning, and ensuring that the church building is better than when we arrived. In case of sickness please locate a substitute. If you are not present there is not a person to take your place. As members, parents are obligated to fulfill the required service hours to be in good standing.

  • We are a cooperative and do not offer an opt-out fee. We depend on the cooperative effort of our members.

  • Be aware that punctuality is vital to the success of the co-op. Please be considerate to not disrupt classes, students, and teachers with consistent tardiness. 

  • Approval to register for classes will be granted once volunteer slots have been selected and all serve requirements have been met. 

  • All students must sign in/check out each week they attend classes. Students twelve years and younger will require a parent to sign them in and out for the day while students thirteen years and older may sign themselves in and out.

  • Unenrolled siblings may not attend classes or play in empty rooms. Childcare is not available.

  • A parent may notify the teacher at any time during the school year to change the status of their student to an Auditing Student. Auditing students do not receive grades but participation while in class is required.

  • Leave no trace: we expect your help in leaving the church in better shape than we found it upon arrival (picking up trash, straightening up chairs and tables, cleaning up surfaces, etc.).

  • Student & Parent Members are responsible for any missing or damaged items. Immediately report any damage to co-op leadership. Vandals will be immediately dismissed from CCA without a refund.

  • Participation authorizes CCA to use the photographs and videos taken of students for use in any end-of-year video, yearbook, advertisements, website, social media, or other media. 

Statement of Discipline and Parent/Student Membership Conduct
All Members are responsible for their actions and should conduct themselves in keeping with their level of maturity, showing regard for authority and for the rights and welfare of others. Members are expected to seek excellence, be honest, use clean speech, act with courteousness, be kind to all, and to love one another. 

  • Strive for excellence in classes & activities, as unto the Lord. Colossians 3:23

  • Respect for and obedience to authority is expected.

  • While not expected, in the case of disciplinary problems the following should be considered standard procedure:
    1. The instructor will give a verbal warning to the student
    2.  If unacceptable behavior persists, the instructor will step outside the classroom with the child to pray about his/her behavior. As soon as practical, a board member should be notified so that the parent may be apprised of the situation.
    3. If unacceptable behavior continues, the child will be dismissed from class and sent to study hall. Parents will be contacted and students must show a repentant heart to return to class. The Shepherding Board will be notified.
    4. If the behavior problem continues the student may be asked not to return to the co-op and no refund will be issued. CCA reserves the right to suspend or terminate students or family membership at any time. 

  • Dress Code: To honor God and our neighbors, and to promote an orderly learning environment, clothing must be modest, clean, and neat. Appropriate dress for classes is as follows: no tank tops, spaghetti strap tops, halter tops, midriff/crop tops | no clothing or jewelry displaying distasteful pictures/sayings (including tobacco, alcohol, or controlled substance advertisements). | Pants or shorts must be worn at/near the waistline | shorts/dresses/skirts should be no higher than mid-thigh | A person’s attire is not indicative of their spiritual worthiness, but God’s Word does give us standards of both dress and conduct (1 Tim. 2:9, 4:8, 12, 15-16, 1 Peter 2:12, 3:3-4).

  • Members in possession of any type of weapon, knife, tobacco, alcohol, or illegal drugs may be asked to leave the premises immediately and the proper authorities may be notified. Any possession may result in immediate and permanent suspension from further participation in the co-op without a fee refund.     

  • All cell phones must be silenced and placed in the student’s backpack while on campus unless being used with a teacher’s or in the event of an emergency.  If a phone is confiscated, it must be picked up by a parent at the end of the day.

  • Students are not permitted to leave campus for lunch without the child's parent.

  • If any of the Code of Community Conduct Policies & Guidelines are not met, membership may be terminated, and/or students/members may be dismissed at the discretion of the board without cause.

Weather Cancellations
When making inclement weather decisions, CCA will not follow Greenville County school closures. We will consider the weather (via the National Weather Service) and road conditions in our area and make a decision the night before or in some cases the same day. We will be unable to issue refunds or schedule class makeup days due to weather or other unexpected circumstances causing class closings. Student Protection Policy
Crestview Christian Homeschool Academy Cooperative seeks to provide a safe and secure environment for the children who participate in our programs and activities. By implementing the below practices, our goal is to protect the children of Crestview Christian Homeschool Academy Cooperative from incidents of misconduct or inappropriate behavior while also protecting our teachers and volunteer members from false accusations. Student Absence
In the event of an absence, please email your child’s teacher(s) & CC [email protected] and let them know that your child will be absent that day.

Statement of Health and Safety Practices
Good hygiene is practiced while on our campus, and we need you to do your part:

  • Wash hands/use hand sanitizer regularly, avoid touching nose/mouth/eyes, cover coughs and sneezes with tissue/elbow/shirt, and avoid public high-touch surfaces.

  • Stay at home if you are ill or until you are symptom-free for 24 hours.
    This includes fever, diarrhea/vomiting, conjunctivitis (pink eye), strep throat, head lice, ringworm, impetigo/staph/MRSA, and communicable diseases including but not limited to chickenpox, all COVID-related illnesses, influenza, measles, meningitis, mononucleosis, mumps, and pertussis.  

  • Wearing a facemask is a personal decision and is made at the discretion of individual families.

  • Know our campus sanitation practices include high touch surface disinfection and sanitization, frequent handwashing, awareness of common signs of illness in children, on-site first aid supplies, and up-to-date emergency plans.

  • SC law encourages all persons to report any signs of suspected child abuse or neglect.

Co-op Community Unity
Unity is essential to meeting our purpose of honoring Christ and building community. If anyone within the group or co-op offends you or you have a concern with anything within our group, please follow the example outlined in Matthew 18:15-17. Members who engage in disunity such as slander, gossip, or divisive behavior will no longer be considered members in good standing and may be denied membership altogether. We are committed to promoting loving, respectful interactions and communication among our members in order to maintain healthy, harmonious and reflect Christ well. Please do not allow Satan to use disagreements as an opportunity for division. Let’s Love one another.

Updates
The Shepherding Board of Directors reserves the right to change or modify the Community Conduct Policies & Guidelines at any time without recourse. Members are advised to check regularly for such changes and updates on the website.
